Rehabilitation First Awards 2011
Incisive Media, the organisers of the annual Rehabilitation First Awards, would like to clarify some confusion that has just emerged. It was in no way responsible for the 2011 Eclipse Personal Injury Awards which took place on the 24th November at the Riverbank Park Plaza.
The latter awards are being erroneously referred to as the "Rehab Awards" or "Rehabilitation Awards". The actual Rehabilitation First Awards, hosted by Post Magazine, have been going for seven years now, with the most recent event taking place on Friday 16 September at Le Meridien Piccadilly in central London.
It transpires that a number of people have taken exception to a speech that was given by one of the award recipients at the 2011 Eclipse Personal Injury Awards.
As Incisive Media has nothing to do with the 2011 Eclipse Personal Injury Awards, and was not in attendance, it cannot comment on the content of this speech and the merit of their award, but would like to direct anyone with any comments or feedback to the organisers of this event, Barker Brooks Media by email info@barkerbrooks.co.uk
The Rehabilitation First Awards is Post's most uplifting and heart-warming event of them all. Identifying individuals and organisations that have excelled in the rehabilitation sector and highlighting their achievements, the Rehabilitation First Awards reward excellence across the market - from employers to insurers, practitioners to claimant solicitors.
Innovation underpins every fast-developing industry and rehabilitation is no exception. From the early days a decade ago of simply raising awareness about rehabilitation, efforts have quickly moved to proving the cost-benefit argument and the industry continues to take great strides towards benchmarked best practice and professionalism.
But challenges still exist. We need an ever greater focus on outcomes, particularly return-to-work; we must not restrict our vision to short-term medical interventions but instead focus on the empowerment of injured individuals as clients. We need closer liaison between the private insurer-funded sector and the NHS; both can learn from each other. We need to move away from a sequential approach, ensuring medical and vocational rehabilitation run concurrently wherever possible. And we need to ensure any lack of trust between parties becomes a thing of the past.
This is an exciting juncture in the UK rehabilitation market. So what better time to showcase your success and be proud of your achievements? These awards officially acknowledge the excellent work that organisations and individuals are contributing to further the development of rehabilitation in this country.
